Climate Change f@%&!

The world is changing into a soaking wet sponge. And yes, The PovertyPhone is concerned. My world- Philippines is currently under a state of calamity because of a really devastating typhoon we'd like to call Ondoy. The Philippines' weather has evidently changed during the past few months. Instead of having a hot and dry season last asian summer, April and May, we were visited by THREE typhoons with well distributed rain showers that made sure everybody went home wet. Everybody went home wet? Hey I like the sound of that. Anyway during the expected rainy season, only one typhoon showed up. Now that september ends, we are feeling the effects of (unproven) climate change. Ondoy flooded major cities and cancelled most affairs including the Bar exam for future Philippine lawyers. Jeepney rides couln't reach a their usual point of destination as well as all flights have been cancelled, domestic and international. LRT stations and an airport are currently serving as makeshift evacuation centers since there are no modes of transportation available even when people try to go home. Instead of wallowing in the house high floods, they (even I would) prefer sleeping anywhere dry or at least not soaking of mud and water. The typhoon also flooded areas that are not really places that usually flood up. The water levels are just so high you need a helicopter rescue to get off your roof. And then go where? The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) are trying their best to rescue everyone they see on top of their houses and those wallowing in the mud. But, there are so many people in this situation that they are outnumbered.

So what can we, ADiKTs do? [stay home and watch TV] I'm kidding. Start doing what you learned from your science teachers. Recycle. Reuse. Walk home. And stop farting. These could all help slow down the effects of global warming. Remember, If we are feeling its wrath now,  how much more will we see in the future?
